Heery Wins North Hertfordshire College Project Management Contract
25 May 2000Balfour Beatty, the international engineering, construction and services group, announced today that Heery International, its project and construction management subsidiary, has been appointed project manager by North Hertfordshire College for the redevelopment of the Stevenage Centre, estimated to be worth £12 million.
This award further enhances Heery’s expertise in the Higher Education sector, which includes projects at Oxford University, Imperial College and Kings College, London.
The design team is to be appointed in June 2000, with the building works commencing in January 2001 and the new college opening by 2002.
Heery’s role will be to manage the process and plan and implement the project. Heery will also assist and facilitate the choice and appointment of a design team of consultants and the contractor.
The North Hertfordshire College plans to create a 7,000msq. state-of-the-art community learning centre which will maximise the use of computer and internet technology to open up their teaching programmes to as broad a spectrum of the community as possible. The Centre will be accessible to those in North Hertfordshire and the near region and will offer relevant and practical programmes of learning and skills development to the highest National Standards.
