Balfour Beatty Communities was acquired by the Group in April 2008. Formerly known as GMH Military Housing, it is responsible for the development, construction/renovation, operation and management of military accommodation projects for the US Department of the Army, US Department of the Navy and US Department of the Air Force.
The company is a leader in the military accommodation PPP concession market, having been awarded 15 concessions at 42 bases. Many of its concessions are executed in partnership with Balfour Beatty Construction US, acquired by Balfour Beatty plc in March 2007.
The business is based outside Philadelphia, PA and employs approximately 1,000 people, 900 of whom work on military bases in support roles.
