Founded in 1908, Mansell was acquired by Balfour Beatty in 2003. The company is one of Britain's leading construction providers, offering national capability and regional delivery to the community. Mansell operates within a number of selected market sectors, including affordable housing, education, health, defence, airports, commercial and interiors, culture and heritage.

Because of its strong customer focus, Mansell has been successful in developing long-term sustainable business through framework and partnering contracts using various procurement models, with both public and private sector customers. It also plays a leading role within Balfour Beatty’s Principal Supply Chain Partnership agreement under Procure21 in the NHS.

Major clients include BAA, BT, Defence Estates, the Department for Work and Pensions, student accommodation provider UNITE and numerous Housing Associations.

Some 2,500 people are employed by Mansell, operating from over 20 locations throughout the UK. The business incorporates Mansell Construction Services, Kirby MacLean and Hall & Tawse Joinery.

Mansell provides a full construction service for new build, refurbishment and fit-out projects up to approximately £25 million. Its expertise covers design and build, off-site manufacture and modular construction, specialist joinery work, value engineering of design (particularly for affordable housing), open-market sales for mixed tenure housing and Public Private Partnerships.
