With over 7,000 Balfour Beatty vehicles on the road, safe driving is a major concern. Balfour Beatty Utilities works closely with the road safety charity Brake to ensure its workforce is up to speed on preventative measures and latest changes.
To boost the publicity special efforts were made during road safety week in November 2006. This included distributing safety information to its 2,500 employees using posters, email cascades and a safe driving kit, plus asking its drivers to commit to Brake's "pledge to drive safely."
The company also helped to raise awareness of young driver and passenger safety in the area by sponsoring a safety banner displayed on a vehicle which toured Balfour Beatty sites.
Chris Hughes, Insurance and Risk Manager for Balfour Beatty Utilities said: "It is horrifying that so many young lives are lost each year on our roads and so important that we work together as a community to make our roads safer for everyone."
